SACMID representative Md. Rubyat Ferdous, Program Officer (Communications and Networking), attended a seminar titled “Prevalence of Hate Speech in Bangladesh” on 04 November at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). The seminar was arranged jointly by WE ARE ONE and Fact Watch, two of the initiatives of Media Studies and Journalism Department, ULAB. The keynote speaker was Mr. Geoffrey Macdonald, Country Director, International Republican Institute (IRI). In his presentation Geoffrey showed how Bangladesh is affected by hate speech. Heemphasized on govt. regulation, civil society and citizen activism, regulating technology and digital literacy to prevent Bangladesh from hate speech.
