At SACMID, capacity development is at the heart of our mission to foster media development in Bangladesh and the South Asian region. We believe a well-equipped and empowered media sector is crucial for tackling poverty, achieving sustainable development, and promoting a more equitable and informed future.
Our diverse capacity development projects cover various aspects of the media ecosystem:
Media and Information Literacy:
- We empower students, teachers, youth, and media professionals with critical thinking skills to become discerning consumers of information. This includes workshops, curriculum development, and research on effective MIL mechanisms.
- We bridge the gap between media audiences and institutions by advocating for transparency, editorial ethics, and responsible journalism.
Gender Equality in Media:
- We work towards a more gender-friendly media landscape through lobbying, advocacy, and policy dialogues. This includes promoting gender-sensitive content, representation, and opportunities for women in the media industry.
Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation:
- We conduct research, campaigns, and capacity building initiatives to equip individuals and communities with the tools to identify and counter misinformation. This promotes a safer information environment and empowers citizens to make informed decisions.
Strengthening CSO-Media Alliance:
- We facilitate collaboration between civil society organizations (CSOs) and media professionals to amplify their voices and advocate for social change. This promotes accountability, transparency, and inclusive development.
