Workshop on "Sustainable Journalism Journey Towards the Future" held at Rajshahi University

On January 15, 2025, a workshop titled “Sustainable Journalism Journey Towards the Future” was held at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Rajshahi University.

The workshop, which took place in Room 123 of the Rabindranath Tagore Academic Building at 11:30 AM, was conducted under SACMID’s “Journalism of the Future” project in collaboration with Deutsche Welle Academy.

The workshop offered a comprehensive exploration of the future of journalism, with key insights shared by Syed Kamrul Hasan, SACMID’s Deputy Director and the Manager of this project. In his address, Syed Kamrul Hasan highlighted the growing demand and scope of media, urging the need for continuous knowledge development and training for journalists to stay relevant in an evolving media landscape.

The program included thought-provoking speeches from Professor Mashihur Rahman and Associate Professor Satil Siraj. In his concluding remarks, Professor Mojammel Hossain Bakul, Chair of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, expressed concern over the current state of the media and stressed the importance of dialogue to address the ongoing crisis in journalism. He noted that finding solutions to this crisis could lead to meaningful changes within the field, ensuring its future sustainability.

The event was moderated by Associate Professor Soma Deb. Nearly fifty students from the department participated in the workshop, engaging in discussions and gaining valuable insights on sustainable journalism practices.

The workshop provided an excellent platform for students and professionals to interact, share ideas, and gain knowledge about the evolving world of journalism.
