South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) organized a drawing competition to raise awareness and prevent various forms of online violence against women. The event took place on Wednesday at the auditorium of Shaheed Sohrawardy Girls’ High School in In Khulna city.
The program was conducted under the project “Empowering Media Professionals, Girl Students, and Community Women through an Improved Understanding of Digital Threats and Security Measures,” funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh. In Khulna district, the Community Welfare Foundation (CWF) is working as the local NGO partner for project implementation.
A total of 41 students from different grades of Shaheed Sohrawardy Girls’ High School participated in the competition, showcasing their creativity and awareness through their artwork. The students highlighted issues such as online violence, cyber security, and women’s safety, conveying important messages through their artistic expressions.
The event was attended by Md. Abdul Wahab Molya, Head Teacher of the school, as the chief guest. Special guests included Hosne Ara Begum, Executive Director of Community Welfare Foundation (CWF), and Azizur Rahman Chhobi, Program Coordinator.
Senior officials from SACMID were also present, along with the school’s faculty members who assisted in organizing the competition.
This drawing competition was part of SACMID’s ongoing project aimed at raising awareness among media professionals, students, and community women about digital threats and security measures. Through this initiative, young people and women are being educated on digital literacy, fact-checking, and cyber safety.
The organizers believe that such programs not only enhance social awareness among students but also foster a preventive mindset towards the risks of the digital world.
