With the 13th National Election approaching, the South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) successfully concluded a training session on voter education and legal rights for women on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at the Brahmanbaria Press Club.
As part of this initiative, a total of four training sessions have been planned, with new participants in each session. The trainings will be conducted from 31 January through February 2026, aiming to reach a wider group of women and community members.
The training was organized under the project “Her Vote, Her Voice”, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh and implemented by SACMID in Brahmanbaria with the support of local NGO partner Sanirvor Brahmanbaria.
The session was facilitated by Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Reporter at Starnews, who delivered in-depth discussions on women’s voting rights, legal protections during elections, challenges women may face while casting their votes, and the responsibilities and rights of women as informed citizens.
A total of 20 participants attended the program, including new women voters, teachers, businesswomen, and entrepreneurs. The diverse participation highlighted the relevance of voter education across different professional and social groups.
The training was attended and facilitated by Shadman Al Arbi and Abu Sufian, Program Officers of SACMID, who supported the smooth coordination and implementation of the session.
SACMID believes that such voter education and legal rights trainings play a critical role in empowering women to become confident, informed, and active voters, and contribute to building a safe, inclusive, and democratic electoral environment ahead of the 2026 national election.
