South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) hosted a workshop titled Women-dedicated Content for awareness raising: Idea Generation & Creation” on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the SACMID office located in Iqbal Road, Block-A, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The workshop was organized under the project “Empowering Media Professionals, Girl Students, and Community Women through an Improved Understanding of Digital Threats and Security Measures.” funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Sheikh Shafiul Islam, Associate Professor and Head of the Media Studies and Journalism Department at United International University (UIU); Nazia Afrin, Adjunct Faculty at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Jimi Amir, Project Coordinator at DW Academy also a diverse group of participants, including media professionals, students, filmmakers, and content creators, attended the event.
SACMID Deputy Director Syed Kamrul Hasan, along with other SACMID officials, was also present.
Participants were encouraged to share their personal experiences and proposed innovative content ideas tailored to marginalized women outside the capital, as well as professional media women. Emphasis was placed on user-friendly formats, accessible language, and current digital trends.
The ultimate goal of the workshop was to develop impactful content that raises awareness of women’s rights and equips them with practical knowledge to navigate the digital space safely. Each participant was tasked with presenting at least three content ideas, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives and approaches.
