SACMID Honors Fellows in Jessore

South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) held a ceremony to honor its fellows on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at a local hotel in Jashore.

The event recognized outstanding investigative journalists who participated in a fellowship program under the project titled “Connecting Community, Strengthening Voices Through CSO-Media Alliance in Jashore District”.

Journalists Faisal Islam, Ashikur Rahman Shimul, and Mahiuddin Sani from Daily Gramer Kagoj were awarded for their excellent reporting. Asad Asaduzzaman and Jahid Ahmed Liton, also from Daily Gramer Kagoj, and Pranab Kumar Das and Sohrab Hossain from Daily Ranar received awards for their special reports. Additionally, all 11 fellows were presented with certificates of recognition.

Mobinul Islam Mobin, editor of Daily Gramer Kagoj and a co-partner of the project, chaired the event. Professor Marjina Akhtar, director of the Jessore Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, was the chief guest. Dr. Mohammad Shariful Islam, assistant professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Khulna University, was a special guest. Other attendees included SACMID project director Syed Kamrul Hasan, development specialist Kazi Azam, Rights Jessore’s deputy director (program) SM Azharul Islam, Joyati Society’s director Archana Biswas, and journalists from various publications.

The project is being implemented by the South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) from January 1 to December 31, 2024, with funding from the European Union and under the supervision of Free Press Unlimited and ARTICLE 19, in partnership with Daily Gramer Kagoj.
