The “Journalism of the Future” Fellowship Program will specifically focus on enhancing the quality of journalism education at five public universities in regions such as Rajshahi, Comilla, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram, and strengthening the professional capacity of local media houses. By creating a collaborative network between universities and local media outlets, the project aims to foster a new generation of media professionals who are well-equipped to meet the challenges of modern journalism.

Through tailored training programs, mentorship, and the development of practical, industry-relevant modules, the project will ensure that both students and media professionals gain the skills necessary to produce high-quality, ethical journalism. Ultimately, the initiative aims to build sustainable local media institutions, improve journalistic standards, and regain public trust in the media by ensuring transparency, credibility, and professionalism in reporting.

Project Area

This initiative will be implemented in five key regions: Rajshahi, Comilla, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. By collaborating with five public universities and local media houses, we aim to create a modern educational and training framework that not only equips students and journalists with essential skills but also enhances the overall quality of local media in Bangladesh.

Main Activities

  • Partner Selection: We’ll select five public universities and five local media houses for collaboration, with a focus on enhancing local journalism standards.

  • MoUs: Formalizing partnerships with selected universities and media houses through MoUs.

  • Roundtable Discussions: Bringing together experts and stakeholders to develop practical and effective training modules of future journalism for journalists and media educators.

  • Training Modules: Collaborating with Deutsche Welle Academy to design specialized training programs for media professionals and university students.

  • Publish the Modules: Published the modules on future journalism
