Free Press delegates visited SACMID office and had a busy day in a series of meetings with respective officials in government departments at their offices on 14 October, 2018. The delegates included Ms. Ruth Kronenburg, Director of operations and Martine Zoethoutmaar, Partnership and Resource Mobilization Manager of Free Press Unlimited (FPU) from the Netherlands. As pre-scheduled, the visitors started their day by visiting SACMID office at Iqbal Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka at 9-30 a.m. There, they met the SACMID staffs and joined in a briefing session on SACMID overall activities and its media literacy initiative that has been achieved so far.The briefing session included PowerPoint presentation and Q&A methods that made the whole briefing an interactive event. Then the team moved to National Curriculum and Text Book Board (NCTB) for a meeting at 12-30 P.M.
It was a long discussion with the Board Member (Curriculum) Dr. Mashiuzzaman and the senior curriculum development specialist Syed Mahfooz Ali. After having lunch in a restaurant of the city the delegates met the Educational Technology Experts Mr. Rafiqul Islam Sujon and Mr.Sifat at Access to Information (A2i) office situated in IDB Building complex. By being the valued partners of this initiative, both the partners (A2i & NCTB) have highlighted some important things during the discussions, those can be considered in future project development on promoting media literacy in Bangladesh. FPU delegates have also expressed their positive feeling to the cooperation that they have extended so far in implementing the SACMID’s project in Bangladesh. The positive outcome of the meeting was that all the parties have agreed to work jointly and in a more comprehensive way in future project of SACMID on media literacy in the country.
