Comilla University and Comillar Kagoj Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic–Media Collaboration

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) at Comilla University and the leading local Daily Comillar Kagoj have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration between academia and the professional media sector.

The signing ceremony was held today November 11, 2025, on the university campus and was attended by faculty members, editors, journalists, DW Akademie fellows, and students of the MCJ department, creating a vibrant and encouraging environment for discussion and partnership.

From Comilla University, the MoU was signed by Mahmudul Hasan, Head and Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, while Abul Kashem Hridoy, Editor of Comillar Kagoj, signed the agreement on behalf of the newspaper.

The initiative was proposed by DW Akademie and successfully facilitated and implemented by SACMID, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting ethical, responsible, and innovative journalism in the region.

Through this MoU, both institutions aim to provide students with opportunities for newsroom training, internships, workshops, and practical reporting experiences.

The collaboration will also encourage joint research activities, discussion forums, and skills development programs that emphasize accuracy, ethics, and public interest journalism.

Speakers at the event expressed that such partnerships are essential for nurturing the next generation of well-informed, socially responsible, and professionally skilled journalists.

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Comilla University and Comillar Kagoj reaffirmed their belief that this collaboration will contribute meaningfully to improving journalism education and supporting the growth of quality media practice in Bangladesh.
