South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) successfully presented the baseline findings of its ongoing election-focused initiative on Sunday 25 January 2026, at Sopnotori Samaj Unnoyan Sangtha, Kawtoli, Brahmanbaria.

The day-long program was conducted in two separate programs, with the first session held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and the second session from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The session was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and implemented by SACMID under the project “Her Vote, Her Voice” In Brahmanbaria district, the project is being implemented in partnership with the local NGO, Sanirbhar Brahmanbaria.

The baseline findings were formally presented by Abu Sufian, Program Officer, SACMID, and the sessions were co-facilitated by Shadman Al Arbi, Program Officer, SACMID.

Participants from a wide range of stakeholder groups attended the sessions, including election commission personnel, government officials, police personnel, Ansar women members, businesswomen, political leaders from BNP, NCP, GOP and other political parties, students, journalists, and religious leaders. The diverse participation ensured inclusive dialogue and multi-perspective feedback on women’s electoral participation ahead of the Bangladesh National Election 2026.

The discussions focused on identifying key barriers to women’s voting participation and exploring community-driven solutions to address them.

During the interactive sessions, participants put forward several key recommendations to positively influence women voters. These included conducting voter education campaigns focused on women, ensuring transportation facilities on election day to support women voters, engaging religious leaders to encourage women’s participation through mosque-based awareness, and organizing school-based campaigns to promote civic education and motivate women to exercise their voting rights.

SACMID emphasized that the insights gathered through these baseline-sharing sessions will contribute to designing more effective, community-informed strategies to promote safe, informed, and inclusive participation of women voters in the upcoming national election.
