South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) successfully organized a cultural event titled “Alor Pother Jatri”, a stage drama raising awareness on digital risks, in Sirajganj. The performance took place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Sirajganj Municipality Bhashani Auditorium.
The program was organized under the project “Empowering Media Professionals, Girl Students, and Community Women through an Improved Understanding of Digital Threats and Security Measures.” funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh.
The event commenced with a mesmerizing cultural performance by emerging singers and dancers from Sirajganj. Their artistic presentations captivated the audience and infused the event with energy and enthusiasm from the very beginning.
The drama drew a diverse audience, including men and women from various professional backgrounds in Sirajganj. Teachers, journalists, NGO workers, entrepreneurs, students, homemakers, and local representatives attended the event. Their active and enthusiastic participation highlighted the importance of spreading awareness on digital safety from their respective positions in society.
Notable attendees included Mohammad Ali, Deputy Director of the District Information Office, Sirajganj. Also present were officials from SACMID, and the representatives from different CSOs Community Development Organization (CDO), and Program for Women Development (PWD).
Through the drama, participants learned how fraud can occur on social media and how to seek assistance from law enforcement in such situations. They were also informed that in emergencies, they can call 999, and in cases of violence against women and children, they can call 109 for immediate support. Attendees noted that this information would be useful in their daily lives.
The event provided a valuable and inspiring experience, raising participants’ awareness about digital safety and motivating them to contribute to building a secure digital society.
SACMID is implementing this project throughout this year in Cumilla, Khulna, and Sirajganj. Through this initiative, SACMID aims to raise awareness about digital risks, strengthen cybersecurity practices, and enhance digital literacy among women and youth.
