SACMID Successfully Conducts Community Monitoring Training to Address Electoral Violence Against Women in Brahmanbaria

South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) successfully conducted a Community Monitoring Training and Group Formation on Saturday, 24 January 2026, at Sopnotori Samaj Unnoyan Sangtha, Kawtoli, Brahmanbaria.

The training aimed to strengthen grassroots-level election monitoring ahead of the Bangladesh National Election 2026, with a particular focus on identifying and reporting electoral violence against women, misinformation, and disinformation.

The session was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and implemented by SACMID under the project “Her Vote, Her Voice

The training was facilitated by Abu Sufian, Program Officer, SACMID, and co-facilitated by Shadman Al Arbi, Program Officer, SACMID. In Brahmanbaria district, the project is being implemented in partnership with the local NGO, Sanirbhar Brahmanbaria.

A total of 15 community members participated in the training. Following the session, five monitoring groups were formed, each consisting of three members. The participants represent different areas of the 11 unions of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila and will monitor election-related issues within their respective unions.

Through this initiative, SACMID aims to empower local communities to contribute to a safe, informed, transparent, and inclusive electoral process, ensuring greater protection of women’s voting rights and democratic participation.
