MCJ Department of University of Barishal and Daily Bangladesh Bani Sign MoU

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) of University of Barishal and the leading local media, Daily Bangladesh Bani have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration between academia and the professional media sector.

The signing ceremony was held yesterday, November 18, 2025, on the university campus and was attended by faculty members, editors, journalists, DW Akademie fellows, and students of the MCJ department, creating a vibrant and encouraging environment for discussion and partnership.

From the University of Barishal, the MoU was signed by Md. Forhad Uddin, Chairman and Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, while Azad Alauddin, Editor of Daily Bangladesh Bani, signed the agreement on behalf of the newspaper.

The initiative was proposed by DW Akademie and successfully facilitated and implemented by SACMID, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting ethical, responsible, and innovative journalism in the region.

Through this MoU, both institutions aim to provide students with opportunities for newsroom training, internships, workshops, and practical reporting experiences.

The collaboration will also encourage joint research activities, discussion forums, and skills development programs that emphasize accuracy, ethics, and public interest journalism.

Speakers at the event expressed that such partnerships are essential for nurturing the next generation of well-informed, socially responsible, and professionally skilled journalists.

The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of the University of Barishal and Daily Bangladesh Bani reaffirmed their belief that this collaboration will contribute meaningfully to improving journalism education and supporting the growth of quality media practice in Bangladesh.
