Stage Drama Inspires Awareness on Digital Threats Among Sirajganj Community

October 21, Sirajganj – South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) successfully organized a cultural event titled “Alor Pother Jatri”, a stage drama aimed at raising awareness about digital risks, in Sirajganj.

The first performance was held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Sirajganj Sadar, and the second show is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at a Char area in the Sirajganj district.

The event was organized under the project “Empowering Media Professionals, Girl Students, and Community Women through an Improved Understanding of Digital Threats and Security Measures.”  funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh. In Sirajganj district, the project is being implemented in partnership with the local NGO, Community Development Organization and the Program for Women Development.

The event commenced with a mesmerizing cultural performance by emerging singers and dancers from Sirajganj. Their artistic presentations captivated the audience and infused the event with energy and enthusiasm from the very beginning.

The drama attracted a diverse audience, including men, women, children, and students. Since it was held in an open space in Sirajganj district, people from various walks of life were able to join. Their active and enthusiastic participation underscored the importance of promoting digital safety awareness across all segments of society.

Through the drama, participants learned how fraud can occur on social media and how to seek assistance from law enforcement in such situations. They were also informed that in emergencies, they can call 999, and in cases of violence against women and children, they can call 109 for immediate support. Attendees noted that this information would be useful in their daily lives.

The event provided a valuable and inspiring experience, raising participants’ awareness about digital safety and motivating them to contribute to building a secure digital society.

This is the final program under this project at Sirajganj; upcoming programs will continue in Cumilla and Khulna.

The program was attended by Shadman Al Arbi, Program Officer at SACMID; Mohammad Zahidul Islam, Executive Director of the Community Development Organization; and Husne Ara Jolly, Executive Director of the Program for Women Development.
