Painting and Wall Magazine Competition Held in Cumilla to Prevent Online Violence Against Women

South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) organized a painting and wall magazine competition in Cumilla to raise awareness about online violence against women The event took place on Tuesday (29 July 2025), at the auditorium of YWCA Junior Girls’ High School in Cumilla.

This initiative was conducted under the project “Empowering Media Professionals, Girl Students, and Community Women through an Improved Understanding of Digital Threats and Security Measures.” funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Banglades. In Cumilla district, llocal NGO partner is Holodia Mahila Unnoyan Shangstha.

A total of 46 students from YWCA Junior Girls’ High School participated in the competition, showcasing their creativity and awareness through artwork and wall magazine presentations. The students conveyed various messages focusing on online violence, cyber security, and women’s safety.

The event was attended by the school’s General Secretary, Irene Mukta Adhikari, and Head Teacher, Koli Chowdhury. Special guest Professor Nikhil Chandra Roy, former principal of Chauddagram Government College, also joined the event.

Additionally, Deputy Director along with other officials from SACMID and Mahamuda Akter, Executive Director of Holodia Mahila Unnoyan Shangstha, were present.

The organizers believe that such activities not only foster social awareness among students but also help cultivate a preventive mindset about the risks of the digital world.
