South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) completed two days long survey in Mymensingh for the situation analysis under the project: Combating Mis and Disinformation Sparked by Digital and Social Media Platforms in Bangladesh funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 18th December, 2023.
A total of 132 survey data was collected for the situation analysis in Mymensingh. 89 (67.42%) data were collected from suburban parts of Mymensingh and 43 (32.57%) data were collected from urban parts. The samples were distributed among Mymensingh City Corporation and Hobirbari of Valuka Upazila. Kobo collect, a mobile application has been used for the survey as it doesn’t need any paper and environment friendly.
Before that South Asia Centre for Media in Development and Trinamool Unnayan Sangstha (TUS) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 17th December, 2023 with a view to cooperate together in implementing ‘Combating mis and disinformation sparked by digital and social media platforms in Bangladesh’ project activities in Mymensingh district.
A total of 11 enumerators collected all these data. Among 11 enumerators, seven were students from renowned universities of Bangladesh. Two are from Trinamool Unnayan Sangstha. They all have received training on the questionnaires, sampling matrix, and survey mechanisms from SACMID on 6th December 2023.
2 supervisors from SACMID facilitate the survey and MD. Easin Ahmed (Program Officer, Research and Community Mobilization), SACMID coordinated the entire situation analysis process.
The team is now planning to move to Brahmanbaria to complete the rest of survey data collection at field level. FGD and KIIs will be started soon.
